Materials and thickness
1.1 Material selection
a. ABS:
High fluidity, affordable, suitable for components with low strength requirements (not directly impacted, not subjected to structural durability in reliability testing), such as internal support brackets (keyboard brackets, LCD brackets), etc. Another common use is on electroplated components (such as buttons, side keys, navigation keys, electroplated decorative parts, etc.). Currently, commonly used products include Qimei PA-757, PA-777D, etc.
b. PC+ABS:
Good liquidity, good strength, and moderate price. Suitable for making high rigidity and high impact toughness components, such as frames, shells, etc. Common material codes: Bayer T85, T65.
c. PC:
High intensity, expensive, and poor liquidity. Suitable for shells, buttons, transmission frames, lenses, etc. that require high strength. Common material codes include: Emperor L1250Y, PC2405, PC2605.
d. POM:
It has high stiffness and hardness, excellent fatigue and wear resistance, small creep and water absorption, good dimensional and chemical stability, and good insulation properties. Commonly used in pulleys, transmission gears, worm gears, worm gears, transmission mechanism components, etc., commonly used material codes such as M90-44.
e. PA:
Tough, absorbent, but becomes fragile when water completely evaporates. Commonly used for gears, pulleys, etc. Key gears with high impact force require the addition of fillers.
f. PMMA:
It has excellent transparency and can still pass through 92% of the sunlight after 240 hours of accelerated aging of light. Even after ten years of outdoor exposure, it still has 89%, and ultraviolet radiation reaches 78.5%. It has high mechanical strength, certain cold resistance and corrosion resistance, good insulation performance, stable size, easy molding, and brittle texture. It is commonly used in transparent structural components with certain strength requirements, such as lenses, remote control windows, light guide components, etc.
1.2 Thickness of the shell
a. The wall thickness should be uniform, and the difference in thickness should be controlled within 25% of the basic wall thickness as much as possible. The minimum wall thickness of the entire component should not be less than 0.4mm, and the back of this area is not an A-grade appearance surface, and the area should not exceed 100mm ²。
b. The thickness of the shell in the thickness direction should be as close as possible to 1.2-1.4mm, and the thickness on the side should be between 1.5-1.7mm; The thickness of the outer lens support surface is 0.8mm, and the minimum thickness of the inner lens support surface is 0.6mm. c.
